Mortgage brokers are covered by the FTC Safeguards Rule
The FTC’s Safeguards Rule requires mortgage brokers to maintain a comprehensive information security program to keep customer information safe.
Since May 13, 2024, a breach involving the unencrypted information of 500 or more customers must be reported to the FTC within 30 days of discovery.
Florida law adds its own deadline: affected Floridians must generally be notified within 30 days of a breach.
